Dog Parks & Off-Leash Areas in Hanoi

Ho Tay (West Lake) is Hanoi's largest lake, with a roughly 17km shoreline circuit, and the heart of the Tay Ho neighbourhood — the city's most dog-friendly and expat-heavy area. The lakeside promenade, wide pavements and quiet back lanes make it Hanoi's most popular dog-walking route, with a strong expat and local dog-owner community. Dogs must be kept on leash on public paths. Best walked early morning or in the cooler evening; Tay Ho also has the highest concentration of pet-friendly cafes and international vet clinics in Hanoi.

One of Hanoi's largest and best-loved central parks (~50 hectares), built in 1958 and known for a time as Lenin Park. Wide tree-lined paths circle the large Bay Mau Lake — a roughly 2km loop popular for walking, jogging and cycling. Gate ticketing was removed and entry is now free, making it an accessible green space for dog owners in the inner city. Dogs must be leashed. Early morning and late afternoon are the most comfortable windows given Hanoi's heat and humidity.
